School in December

I have discovered that since the Thanksgiving holiday this year, all school time and structure have pretty much gone out the window. We've maybe had 2 little school sessions all month. This has brought me to, what to me is, a fun conclusion. For our family between Thanksgiving and New Years, we will break from school.

It will be a time to focus on service and doing nice things for people! Fun right! I'm excited about this. We will make things for people and deliver them, sing at nursing homes, help each other a little extra, help stock shelves at the Bishop's storehouse, sub for Santa when we can, as a family go help a homeless person-at a shelter or on the street--whatever we can think of. As the children get older, different types of opportunities will arise. Service is ALWAYS good and hopefully will continue to arise through out the year, but it's a good time of year to put lots of energy into it and help giving of themselves become part of who they are. This I think is one of the most important lessons I want to give my children through example and through giving them opportunities.

I just thought I'd share this idea with you guys because for me it sounds fun, AND relieves the stress of trying to fit school into a crazy time year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
